All 23 hunting gestures, from starting moves to encounters in Yharnam, with the League Master's variant and complete collections.
Showing the Hunter the Way
Perform the Point Forward gesture at least once.
This gesture is in the menu from the start of the adventure. It lets you point a companion in the right direction while exploring.
Displaying Conviction
Perform the Conviction gesture at least once.
Available as soon as the hunter is created, this gesture is part of the sign language exchanged between players. It requires no oath.
A Salutation Between Hunters
Perform the Hunter's Salutation gesture at least once.
The hunter knows this greeting from the start. Perform it before the animated Doll and she will bow in return.
Joy Amid the Hunt
Perform the Joy gesture at least once.
This expression is available from the start and can celebrate a meeting or a victory. No particular fight is required to perform it.
The Call of a Fellow Hunter
Perform the Hunter's Rally gesture at least once.
Hunter’s Rally is one of the seven starting gestures. The Doll applauds when a hunter performs it before her while she is animated.
A Wave in Yharnam’s Streets
Perform the Wave gesture at least once.
The wave is available at the start of the journey. It lets you greet another hunter without interrupting the encounter with words.
A Moment’s Rest in the Night
Perform the Sit Down gesture at least once.
The hunter knows this gesture from the start. The pose is held until another action interrupts it; no minimum duration is required.
The Wounded Crow’s Warning
Learn Wait by speaking to the wounded Eileen on the Grand Cathedral steps under the blood moon.
This encounter belongs to the quest branch in which Eileen survived the fight with Henryk. Speak to her before entering to face the Bloody Crow of Cainhurst to receive her warning gesture.
The Spider’s Plea
Learn Beg for Life during the face-to-face encounter with Patches the Spider in the Lecture Building.
Climb down the ladder from the upper floor to enter his laboratory. Patches accompanies his apology with this plea; the gesture continues until interrupted.
The Bow Passed Down by Alfred
Learn Church Bow (Male) by giving the Unopened Summons to Alfred.
The summons is found in Annalise’s chamber at Cainhurst. Alfred teaches the bow as soon as he receives it; you do not need to wait until the end of his quest. Any hunter can learn this gesture.
The Posture Left on the Balcony
Learn Make Contact by examining the charred body on the Orphanage balcony in Upper Cathedral Ward.
The body holds a pose with its arms at different angles. The hunter can reproduce the gesture and hold it until the arms change position; using it before the Brain of Mensis is a separate objective.
Respect Before Annalise
Learn Respect by kneeling before Annalise and joining the Vilebloods.
The Queen teaches this gesture when you swear the Cainhurst oath. Offering a Blood Dreg later grants Deep Respect, which is a different gesture.
The Executioner’s Roar
Learn Roar by speaking to Alfred beside Annalise after his massacre at Cainhurst.
After receiving the summons, Alfred reaches the Queen’s chamber. His elation takes the form of this roar, which he teaches before returning to the altar.
Silence Before Henryk
Learn Shhh! by listening to Eileen’s warning about Henryk outside Oedon Chapel.
Open the gate to the round plaza, then speak to Eileen before nightfall. If you started her quest near the chapel, reload the area after her first conversation to hear this warning.
Beneath the Crow's Feathers
Before entering the Forbidden Woods, find Eileen at the Yharnam docks or near Oedon Chapel, exhaust her initial dialogue and learn the Shake Off Cape gesture.
Eileen hunts hunters made dangerous by the blood. You can first meet her at the docks or in Cathedral Ward; entering the Woods without speaking to her causes her quest to disappear.
Two Hunters Against Henryk
Before first entering the Forbidden Woods, help Eileen kill Henryk at the Tomb of Oedon, keep her alive, then speak to her after the victory.
Henryk appears at the tomb after Eileen’s warning. Eileen must survive, and you must speak to her after the fight, to continue her quest; simply waiting until before Rom is not enough.
An Alliance Before the Altar
Before night falls, meet Alfred near the entrance to Old Yharnam, agree to cooperate with him and learn the Pray gesture.
Alfred prays at an altar and introduces himself as a disciple of Logarius. Agreeing to cooperate at your first meeting grants the gesture; his zeal against the Vilebloods emerges later.
Tribute to the Immortal Queen
After taking the Vileblood oath, offer at least one Blood Dreg to Annalise and receive her Deep Respect gesture.
With Corruption equipped, certain defeated hunters drop Blood Dregs. NPC hunters can provide them; fighting another player is not required for this offering.
A Refuge for Arianna
Before Rom, after defeating Vicar Amelia, the Blood-starved Beast or the Witch of Hemwick, choose Oedon Chapel for Arianna and speak to her there.
Any one of these three victories allows Arianna to ask for shelter. Oedon Chapel and the clinic are alternative destinations. At the chapel, she offers her curtsy and then her blood; protecting her from the other residents allows her quest to continue.
The Trust of a Sister of the Church
Before Rom, after earning Adella’s trust in Hypogean Gaol by wearing recognized Healing Church chest attire, choose Oedon Chapel for her and speak to her at the refuge.
Adella recognizes the Black Church, White Church, Choir, Executioner, Tomb Prospector and Gascoigne sets, among others; the chest piece is enough. Choosing Oedon Chapel allows her to offer her bow and blood. The clinic is an alternative destination with no continuation at the chapel.
A Place in the Chapel
After accepting the Oedon Chapel Dweller’s request, bring Arianna, Adella, the skeptical old man or the lonely old woman to the chapel, then speak to the Dweller again to learn Triumph.
The request to shelter survivors precedes this first arrival. Any one of the four actual refugees is enough, in any order. The young girl never reaches Oedon and the beggar brings death there: neither replaces a rescued survivor.
Djura's Oath
After encountering Paarl, approach Djura from the rear of Old Yharnam without being spotted, promise to spare the beasts and receive his gesture.
Djura protects the townspeople who have become beasts. Encountering Paarl is enough; defeating him is not required. Returning through his passage or from the Church of the Good Chalice lamp lets you approach the tower outside Djura’s line of sight.
Vermin Beneath the Heel
Crush one Vermin, then speak to Valtr again to receive the League Staff and the League Oath gesture.
Valtr acknowledges the first Vermin you crush and gives you the symbols of his covenant. Equipping Impurity enables the usual ways to obtain Vermin in co-op; the DLC also contains offline sources.
The First Transfusion Contract
Create your hunter and watch the opening blood transfusion performed by the Blood Minister.
At the clinic, the minister offers a blood transfusion after the contract is signed. This encounter opens the adventure; it does not begin a quest to find him again.
The Master’s Hand upon the Heart
After crushing five Vermin and Valtr’s departure, equip Impurity and perform League Oath with its new animation.
The confederate’s gesture changes when Valtr’s quest is complete and Impurity is equipped. The hunter then places a hand on their chest: this is a variant of the same gesture, not a new acquisition.
