Beyond the city: Old Yharnam, the Forbidden Woods, the League, Cainhurst and the Nightmare, through to the secrets of the night.
Stake Driver
Obtain Stake Driver on this character.
A Powder Keg weapon favoured by Djura, it drives a stake into enemies at close range. The Messengers sell it once you obtain his badge, either by befriending him or after his death. Normal, Uncanny and Lost versions all count for this weapon.
Reiterpallasch
Obtain Reiterpallasch on this character.
Cainhurst's knights combine a thrusting sword with a firearm in this weapon. The Normal version is in a chest in the castle entrance hall; the Cainhurst Badge also unlocks its purchase. Normal, Uncanny and Lost versions all count for this weapon.
Logarius' Wheel
Obtain Logarius' Wheel on this character.
Logarius’s executioners used this wheel against the Cainhurst Vilebloods. The normal version becomes available for purchase with Alfred’s Wheel Hunter Badge. Normal, Uncanny and Lost versions all count for this weapon.
Oedon's Refuge
Light the Cathedral Ward lamp inside Oedon Chapel.
The chapel dweller offers to shelter survivors here. This refuge becomes the starting point for routes to Old Yharnam, the Grand Cathedral and the Church's secret paths.
The Ashes of Old Yharnam
Light the Old Yharnam lamp.
The warning on the door asks you to leave the beasts in peace. Beyond it lies the burnt district that Djura watches from his tower.
The Charnel Pits of Hemwick
Light the first Hemwick lamp on Hemwick Charnel Lane.
The path leaves the Cathedral Ward near the Grand Cathedral and passes through woodland before reaching Hemwick. Graves, pyres and women armed with sickles line the road.
The Forbidden Passage
Pass through the password-locked door in the Cathedral Ward, then light the Forbidden Woods lamp.
The memory revealed by the skull in the Grand Cathedral provides the password. Beyond the door, the wooded path leads to the village and then to the snakes.
The Shores of Byrgenwerth
Light the Byrgenwerth lamp.
Beyond the Forbidden Grave, the path leads to the college beside the lake. Willem remains there, apart from the Healing Church founded by his former pupil Laurence.
Under the Blood Moon
After defeating Rom, light the Yahar'gul, Unseen Village lamp.
The blood moon reveals the Amygdalas and opens the village's main entrance. Bell-ringing women revive fallen enemies here as long as they remain alive.
The Choir's Sanctuary
Use the Upper Cathedral Key to open the door at the top of the Healing Church Workshop and enter the Upper Cathedral Ward.
The key is found in a Yahar'gul cell entered from above during the blood moon. The upper ward houses the Orphanage, associated with the Choir's research.
The Hidden Court of the Vilebloods
After defeating Logarius, wear the Crown of Illusions near his throne, reveal the passage and enter the Vileblood Queen's Chamber.
The crown reveals the entrance concealed behind Logarius’s seat. Annalise waits at the far end of the chamber; entering does not require you to swear allegiance to her.
Halls Swallowed by the Nightmare
Light the lamp on the lower floor of the Lecture Building.
Reach this floor with the Tonsil Stone by letting the Amygdala near the entrance to Yahar'gul grab you, or descend from the upper floor. Its corridor leads to the Nightmare Frontier.
The Poisoned Frontier
Light the Nightmare Frontier lamp.
The door on the Lecture Building's lower floor opens onto these cliffs and poisonous swamps. Amygdala waits beyond the ravines.
At the Gates of Mensis
Light the first lamp in the Nightmare of Mensis.
The door on the Lecture Building's upper floor opens onto Mensis. In the distance, the gaze from the tower inflicts frenzy while the hunter remains exposed.
Beyond the Master of the Nightmare
After defeating Micolash, light the Mergo's Loft: Middle lamp.
Defeating Micolash opens the rest of the Loft. Stairs, shadows and giant pigs lead toward the heights where Mergo is found.
The Hunt of the Old Hunters
With the Eye of a Blood-drunk Hunter, let the Amygdala near Oedon Chapel grab you and enter the Hunter's Nightmare.
The Eye appears in the Dream after defeating Amelia and examining the altar skull. Being grabbed by the Amygdala near the chapel's left exit grants access to The Old Hunters.
The Pile of Corpses
Enter the Underground Corpse Pile, Ludwig's arena.
Ludwig stands among piled bodies at the end of the blood-soaked path. The location's lamp only appears after his defeat, but this achievement requires only entering the arena.
Behind the Church's Bars
After defeating Ludwig, pass through the underground cell corridor leading to the elevator altar room.
Yamamura and Brador are imprisoned along this passage. The corridor can be explored without opening their cells; their two keys are found later in the nightmare.
The Stairs of Research
Activate the elevator altar with the Eye Pendant and light the Research Hall lamp.
The pendant taken from Laurence's cathedral activates the altar beyond the cells. The Research Hall's patients bear witness to the Church's experiments.
The Village of the Buried Secret
After defeating Maria, use the Celestial Dial to open the clock and enter the Fishing Hamlet.
The dial is collected in Maria's room after her defeat. Presenting it to the great clock reveals the passage to the village whose inhabitants curse Byrgenwerth.
Beast Roar
Obtain Beast Roar on this character.
This roar repels nearby opponents and can deflect projectiles. The tool is found in a house in the Forbidden Woods, near the caged dogs on the path to the clinic. Acquiring it is enough; no use or minimum attribute requirement applies.
Messenger's Gift
Obtain Messenger's Gift on this character.
This tool lets you take on the appearance of Messengers. It is found at the end of a swampy passage in the Nightmare Frontier, guarded by a Winter Lantern. Acquiring it is enough; no use or minimum attribute requirement applies.
The Vileblood Oath
After defeating Logarius, reveal the throne room with the Crown of Illusions, kneel and swear allegiance to Annalise.
Annalise receives the kneeling hunter and grants the Corruption rune and Respect gesture. This oath lets you offer Blood Dregs to the Queen.
Tribute to the Immortal Queen
After taking the Vileblood oath, offer at least one Blood Dreg to Annalise and receive her Deep Respect gesture.
With Corruption equipped, certain defeated hunters drop Blood Dregs. NPC hunters can provide them; fighting another player is not required for this offering.
The Queen Restored to Her Throne
Offer the Queenly Flesh at the Altar of Despair after defeating Ebrietas, then find Annalise alive again at Cainhurst.
Annalise’s flesh survives her mutilation by Alfred or the hunter. The Altar of Despair restores her form, making her dialogue and Blood Dreg offerings available again.
A Proposal Refused at Cainhurst
Find the Ring of Betrothal in a root chalice dungeon and offer it to Annalise to hear her refusal.
This rare ring unlocks an additional conversation with the Queen. Her refusal leads neither to marriage nor to a new succession branch.
The Beast Beneath the Rags
Before Rom, on the windmill roof in the Forbidden Woods, provoke the beggar’s transformation and defeat his Abhorrent Beast form before sending him to Oedon Chapel.
The fight at the windmill is an alternative outcome to the beggar’s two possible destinations. Several hits make him abandon his human appearance. Defeating him there prevents his murders at Oedon Chapel.
The Predator Sent to the Clinic
Before Rom, choose the clinic for the beggar, reload the area and receive Iosefka’s impostor’s reward for sending him there.
Sending him to the clinic is an alternative to fighting him at the windmill or welcoming him to Oedon Chapel. The experiments transform him into a Small Celestial Emissary: this destination prevents the refuge’s murders without curing him.
A Refuge Given to the Predator
Send the beggar to Oedon Chapel, let him kill the chapel dweller and all four refugees, then return after he has disappeared.
After welcoming the beggar, this outcome requires the deaths of the Dweller and all four refugees. If everyone is present, the victims are the old man, the old woman, Adella, the Dweller and finally Arianna. Further boss victories advance the later murders; after the last one, reloading makes the predator disappear.
Djura's Oath
After encountering Paarl, approach Djura from the rear of Old Yharnam without being spotted, promise to spare the beasts and receive his gesture.
Djura protects the townspeople who have become beasts. Encountering Paarl is enough; defeating him is not required. Returning through his passage or from the Church of the Good Chalice lamp lets you approach the tower outside Djura’s line of sight.
The Gatling Gun Falls Silent
Defeat Djura at the top of his tower and possess the Powder Keg Hunter Badge.
Djura can be fought on the first visit to Old Yharnam or after befriending him. His badge can be collected after his death if he has not already given it to the hunter.
The Spider's Apology
Meet Patches the Spider face to face by climbing down the ladder from the upper floor of the Lecture Building, then exhaust his dialogue until you receive the gesture and rune.
The ladder leads behind the door through which Patches spoke to the hunter. His apology grants the Beg for Life gesture, followed by an Anti-Clockwise Metamorphosis rune; either dialogue response allows you to receive these gifts.
A Fall Offered to Amygdala
Trigger the scene in which Patches the Spider pushes the hunter into the Nightmare Frontier's swamp, then escape the poison alive.
Shining Coins lure the hunter to the cliff edge where Patches waits. His trap sends you into the poison swamp; surviving the crossing is the objective.
Trade Beneath the Tombs
After defeating Amygdala and Micolash, finish Patches' dialogue in the Lecture Building, then find him alive as a merchant in a root chalice dungeon and open his shop.
Let him finish his entire farewell, speak to him until his final dialogue repeats, then leave the Lecture Building to prepare his departure. Encounters with him in chalice dungeons are rare; he sells his wares from the ceiling.
The Oath Against Impurity
Speak to Valtr in the small windmill in the Forbidden Woods and agree to join the League.
Valtr offers the Impurity rune to those who join the League. Its confederates hunt the vermin they believe lurk within people, and help one another during the hunt.
Vermin Beneath the Heel
Crush one Vermin, then speak to Valtr again to receive the League Staff and the League Oath gesture.
Valtr acknowledges the first Vermin you crush and gives you the symbols of his covenant. Equipping Impurity enables the usual ways to obtain Vermin in co-op; the DLC also contains offline sources.
The Helm Left at the Windmill
Crush five Vermin in total, exhaust Valtr's dialogue, reload the area and pick up the Master's Iron Helm left at the windmill.
After five Vermin, Valtr recognises the hunter as his successor and leaves the windmill. The helmet he leaves behind marks this outcome; killing Valtr is not the required route.
The Last of the Madaras Twins
After Valtr departs, defeat the Younger Madaras Twin near the Forbidden Woods lamp.
The hunter with the whistle appears on the path to the small windmill. Defeating him grants the Madaras Whistle; this achievement follows his appearance after Valtr’s quest is completed.
Willem's Silence
Interact with Master Willem on the Byrgenwerth balcony and receive the two Insight points associated with his guidance.
Willem offers no spoken explanation: he points towards the lake with his cane. His gesture invites you to look beyond the balcony, towards Rom’s domain.
Simon's Last Secret
After accepting Simon’s investigation, hear his final testimony in the Lighthouse Hut and receive his key.
The wounded Simon hands over his Bowblade and the Underground Cell Inner Chamber Key. His final testimony remains available when his encounters beside Ludwig and in the Research Hall were skipped.
Simon Before the Hero's Head
Speak to Simon before fighting Ludwig, answer no to Ludwig’s head while wearing Church attire in the body slot, reload the area, then speak to Simon beside the head.
This answer brings Simon to the fallen hero. He offers the Holy Moonlight Sword; collect it before advancing his investigation to the Research Hall.
Ludwig's Last Comfort
After the battle, speak to Ludwig's head while wearing a recognized Church garment on your torso and answer yes to his question about his hunters.
Ludwig asks whether his Church hunters became the noble warriors he hoped they would. Your answer eases his final moments; a chest garment alone is enough for him to recognise the Church.
Four Returns of the Bell Ringer
Defeat all four of Brador's apparitions: at the bridge beyond the lighthouse, on the scaffolding, in the tunnel toward the well and on the stairs by the cells.
Each of Brador’s four invasion locations rewards one piece of his attire. Keep his body alive in its cell until all four victories: his death stops the apparitions, although their items remain at those locations.
The Bell Silenced
Obtain the Underground Cell Inner Chamber Key, open Brador's cell and kill his physical body to stop his apparitions.
The key comes from the Lighthouse Hut, either during Simon’s testimony or from beside the lamp if he can no longer speak there. Brador’s physical body waits in the cell at the end of the underground passage beyond Ludwig.
Adeline's Final Gift
After the first two donations, give Adeline her third Brain Fluid and receive the Milkweed rune.
Return to the Research Hall until Adeline is a head behind her room’s door. Exhaust her dialogue, then strike her once to obtain her own Brain Fluid; she immediately revives and can receive this final donation.
The Prayer Behind Bars
Find Yamamura's cell and listen to a full cycle of his speech from outside the door.
This hunter from the East joined the League before descending into madness. Imprisoned near the stairs beyond Ludwig, he repeats his prayer while striking his head against the wall.
The Wandering Hunter's Return
After his death in the Underground Cells, summon Yamamura for a boss that is still alive while Impurity is equipped.
Yamamura can assist against Paarl, The One Reborn or the Living Failures. His death in the Nightmare unlocks these summons; the Old Hunter Bell and the Impurity rune are required.
The Curse Entrusted to the Hunter
Speak to the Fishing Hamlet priest with the Milkweed rune equipped and hear his dialogue until he gives you the Accursed Brew.
The priest curses Byrgenwerth and those who desecrated the village. The form granted by Milkweed unlocks a conversation and the gift of this tool; the Kos Parasite is not required.
The stranger on the windmill roof
Before Rom, find the beggar beside the bodies on the Forbidden Woods windmill roof and hear his request for shelter.
His rags and blindfold conceal another nature. The meeting leaves three outcomes: reveal and fight the beast there, direct him to the clinic or send him to Oedon Chapel. Without a meeting before the red moon, he disappears.
A place for the predator
Before Rom, choose Oedon Chapel for the beggar, reload the area and find him outside the chapel after his arrival.
Welcoming him begins the murderous branch and excludes his departure for the clinic or a fight at the windmill. A first victim falls when he arrives. Gifts of Beast Blood Pellets then conceal the successive disappearances.
The Warning Above the Ashes
Enter Old Yharnam and hear Djura warn the hunter from his tower.
Djura protects Old Yharnam’s residents, who have become beasts. Continuing through the streets makes him open fire; a peaceful meeting is still possible later by approaching from the rear.
The Stone Behind the Shutters
After entering the Forbidden Woods, speak to Patches behind an inhabited door or window and receive the Tonsil Stone.
Patches borrows the residents’ voices and points toward the passage near Yahar’gul’s entrance. Carrying his stone allows the Amygdala there to transport the hunter to the Lecture Building.
The Voice Behind the Lecture Door
On the Lecture Building’s lower floor, speak to Patches through the door of his laboratory.
From his locked laboratory, Patches invites the hunter to enter the Nightmare Frontier. A later visit through the ladder on the upper floor reveals his face.
A Hunter Seeking Secrets
Find Simon in the passage behind the Hunter’s Nightmare chapel and tell him that nightmares interest you.
Simon warns that some secrets are meant to stay hidden. Expressing your curiosity begins his investigation; meeting him before Ludwig also allows you to follow his encounters beside the hero and in the Research Hall.
The Crimes Behind the White Doors
After his encounter beside Ludwig, find Simon at the Research Hall lamp and exhaust his dialogue about the Church and Maria.
Simon appears here after handing the Holy Moonlight Sword to the hunter. He points to Maria and the Astral Clocktower as the next step toward the Nightmare’s secret.
Adeline’s First Donation
Hear Adeline’s request in the Research Hall and give her a first Brain Fluid.
Two patients reduced to heads can provide the first fluids. After this donation, Adeline offers her blood; receiving her vial requires carrying no other special blood.
The Key Entrusted by Adeline
After the first donation and the necessary returns to the Research Hall, give Adeline a second Brain Fluid and receive the Balcony Key.
Returning several times allows Adeline to make her second request. Her key opens the Research Hall’s outside balcony, where the Blacksky Eye can be found.
The Bell Behind the Bars
In the Underground Cells after Ludwig, speak to Brador through his door and hear his warning about the bell.
The two answers to his question produce different replies without changing his quest. His apparitions await the hunter in the Fishing Hamlet and on the return to the cells.
Silence Granted to Yamamura
Open Yamamura’s cell with the Underground Cell Key, end his suffering and collect his attire.
Yamamura repeats his prayer while striking himself against the wall. His death in the Nightmare then allows his spirit to be summoned with the Impurity rune.
What Remains of the Undying Queen
After Annalise is mutilated by Alfred or the hunter, examine her throne and collect the Queenly Flesh.
The queen’s flesh continues to live. Even if the hunter causes her mutilation, her remains can be taken to the Altar of Despair to restore her form.
Sight Cast into the Abyss
Reach the lever through the secret exit of the Mensis elevator and drop the Brain into the abyss.
The cage with the broken door lets you leave the lift halfway through its journey. At the end of the hidden passage, a lever releases the suspended Brain, ending the gaze that inflicted frenzy from the tower.
Contact in the Darkness
Learn Make Contact in Upper Cathedral Ward, drop the Brain of Mensis, then hold the gesture in the abyss until you receive the rank 3 Moon rune.
Face the Brain’s location and wait for your arms to change position. The rune you receive increases Blood Echoes from slain enemies by 30%. The Brain may already be dead: dropping it into the abyss is enough to make this gift available.
The Four Remnants of the Great Ones
Obtain all four One Third of Umbilical Cord items in the same cycle: from the Abandoned Old Workshop, Mergo’s Wet Nurse, the impostor Iosefka after Rom, and Arianna’s child after Micolash.
The four relics come from different sources. Keeping the impostor alive until the Blood Moon and Arianna alive until the birth is essential to this collection. Consuming three cords is enough for the secret ending; this achievement requires obtaining all four.
The Beast’s Embrace
Equip Beast’s Embrace and the Beast Claw, then defeat an enemy with the new attacks enabled by this combination.
The rune received after Laurence changes the hunter’s appearance. Paired with the Beast Claw found in the Ailing Loran chalice, it unlocks beastly moves unique to this form.
The Parasite in Bloom
Equip Milkweed and the Kos Parasite, then defeat an enemy with the parasite attacks enabled by the transformation.
Milkweed is obtained by completing Adeline’s requests. With this rune, the Kos Parasite received after defeating the Orphan reveals its tentacles and arcane attacks.
The Guardians Turned Against Each Other
In the Fishing Hamlet well, hit a Shark Giant with a Shaman Bone Blade and observe it dealing damage to the other giant.
The blade briefly confuses its target, making it attack other enemies. Wait until both giants are present to use this effect; they do not have to kill each other.
The Music Box’s Echo in the Tombs
Use the Tiny Music Box near a large interactive bell in a Chalice Dungeon and observe the bell ringing in response.
The music box can make certain nearby objects react, including the large interactive bells in chalice dungeons. This secret concerns ringing those bells, not bell-ringing women or summoning an ally.
Maria’s Burden Lifted
After defeating Maria and before defeating Mergo’s Wet Nurse, return to hear the Doll’s new dialogue about Maria.
The Doll feels a release she cannot explain. After the Wet Nurse, her dialogue turns to Gehrman and the end of the hunt, so this conversation must be heard beforehand.
Sleep at Last at Peace
After the Orphan of Kos fight and its final scene, return to hear the Doll speak of Gehrman’s peaceful sleep before defeating Mergo’s Wet Nurse.
After defeating the Orphan, strike the dark silhouette near Kos to conclude the nightmare scene. The Doll remarks on Gehrman’s peaceful sleep; this conversation is no longer available after the Wet Nurse.
Eyes Opened upon Oedon
Before defeating Rom, reach at least 40 Insight and observe the Amygdala clinging to Oedon Chapel.
The creature is already there, even when the hunter cannot see it. Forty points of Insight reveal it before the blood moon, which then makes it visible regardless of Insight.
The Lantern with Open Eyes
With at least 15 Insight, observe a lantern-wielding Church Servant in Cathedral Ward using its enhanced lantern attack.
Insight changes how certain enemies are perceived. At this threshold, the servant’s lantern reveals eyes and enables additional attacks. Choose a lantern bearer, not just any Church Servant.
Cries Before the Blood Moon
Before defeating Rom, reach at least 60 Insight and hear the baby crying in an area of the waking world.
At this level of Insight, the crying becomes audible before the blood moon. The Hunter’s Dream and chalice dungeons are excluded; the streets of Yharnam offer a suitable place to listen.
