The encounters of the city, from awakening in the clinic to the refuges of Oedon: the residents' quests, their choices and alternate endings.
The Wounded Crow’s Warning
Learn Wait by speaking to the wounded Eileen on the Grand Cathedral steps under the blood moon.
This encounter belongs to the quest branch in which Eileen survived the fight with Henryk. Speak to her before entering to face the Bloody Crow of Cainhurst to receive her warning gesture.
The Posture Left on the Balcony
Learn Make Contact by examining the charred body on the Orphanage balcony in Upper Cathedral Ward.
The body holds a pose with its arms at different angles. The hunter can reproduce the gesture and hold it until the arms change position; using it before the Brain of Mensis is a separate objective.
Silence Before Henryk
Learn Shhh! by listening to Eileen’s warning about Henryk outside Oedon Chapel.
Open the gate to the round plaza, then speak to Eileen before nightfall. If you started her quest near the chapel, reload the area after her first conversation to hear this warning.
The Hunter's Refuge
Enter the Hunter's Dream for the first time.
The Messengers welcome the hunter near Gehrman's workshop and the Doll. You can discover the Dream by dying or by using a lamp, so death is not required.
The Lantern of Yharnam
Light the Central Yharnam lamp.
At the top of the first ladder, this lamp opens a passage to the Dream. The surrounding streets are patrolled by townsfolk armed for the night of the hunt.
Oedon's Refuge
Light the Cathedral Ward lamp inside Oedon Chapel.
The chapel dweller offers to shelter survivors here. This refuge becomes the starting point for routes to Old Yharnam, the Grand Cathedral and the Church's secret paths.
The Forgotten Workshop
Enter the Abandoned Old Workshop through the hidden door in the shaft of the Healing Church Workshop tower.
A carefully judged drop onto a small platform leads to this door. The workshop resembles the one in the Dream; a motionless doll and the old hunters' tools remain inside.
The Forbidden Passage
Pass through the password-locked door in the Cathedral Ward, then light the Forbidden Woods lamp.
The memory revealed by the skull in the Grand Cathedral provides the password. Beyond the door, the wooded path leads to the village and then to the snakes.
The Clinic's Other Door
Reach the rear interior of Iosefka's Clinic by climbing the ladders in the cave beneath the Forbidden Woods.
The poison-filled cave leads back to the grounds of the clinic. A ladder and the rooftops provide access to the interior; the door where Iosefka spoke to you is not the entrance for this detour.
A Captive of Yahar'gul
After defeating the Blood-starved Beast and before Rom, let a Snatcher kill you, then light the Hypogean Gaol lamp.
Snatchers carry their victims to the cells of Yahar'gul. This early visit provides access to part of the village; its lamp stops working after the blood moon appears.
The Choir's Sanctuary
Use the Upper Cathedral Key to open the door at the top of the Healing Church Workshop and enter the Upper Cathedral Ward.
The key is found in a Yahar'gul cell entered from above during the blood moon. The upper ward houses the Orphanage, associated with the Choir's research.
The Hidden Court of the Vilebloods
After defeating Logarius, wear the Crown of Illusions near his throne, reveal the passage and enter the Vileblood Queen's Chamber.
The crown reveals the entrance concealed behind Logarius’s seat. Annalise waits at the far end of the chamber; entering does not require you to swear allegiance to her.
Blood Offered Behind the Door
After visiting the Hunter's Dream and before first reaching Oedon Chapel, return to the door of the sickroom, speak to Iosefka and receive her blood vial.
The real Iosefka refuses to open the door to protect her patients, but offers the hunter her blood. After your first arrival in Cathedral Ward, another woman takes her place behind that door.
Another Voice Behind the Door
After first visiting Oedon Chapel, return to the door of the starting room and speak to Iosefka’s impostor to hear her offer to take in survivors.
The woman who takes Iosefka’s place asks for survivors to be sent to the clinic. This dialogue opens that destination even if the hunter never spoke to the original healer. The entrance from the woods and the impostor’s two outcomes remain to be discovered.
Gilbert's Last Warmth
Exhaust Gilbert’s advice, then return to his window after first reaching Oedon Chapel and before nightfall to receive the Flamesprayer.
Gilbert guides the hunter from his window near the Central Yharnam lamp. His gift becomes available after reaching Oedon Chapel; waiting until nightfall forfeits it. Receiving the gift is independent of his later transformation.
The Broken Window
After the blood moon appears, return to Gilbert's broken window and defeat the beast he has become.
After Rom, the window is broken and Gilbert has become a beast. Defeating him yields the Clawmark rune. Receiving his Flamesprayer is not required to witness this outcome.
A Promise to Viola's Daughter
Before night falls, agree to look for Viola on behalf of her daughter and hear her clues about the brooch and music box.
The little girl identifies her mother by a red brooch. She gives you the small music box whose melody reminds Gascoigne of who he is; her parents’ names are written inside.
The Ribbon Lost in the Sewers
After directing the young girl to Oedon Chapel before nightfall, or giving her the Red Jeweled Brooch, reload the area, defeat the sewer boar and retrieve the Red Messenger Ribbon.
Two choices lead to the same ribbon: directing the girl to Oedon Chapel or returning Viola’s brooch. In either case, the sewer boar carries this keepsake after she leaves. Sending her to the clinic closes this outcome.
Viola's Last Keepsake
Choose to give the young girl the Red Jeweled Brooch before directing her to a refuge, then listen to her reaction.
The brooch lies on Viola’s body above the Tomb of Oedon. Returning it to her daughter triggers her grief and closes the refuge choices. This branch also leads to the boar’s Red Messenger Ribbon and then to the older sister.
Two Ribbons at One Window
During the Blood Moon, after giving the Red Messenger Ribbon to the older sister and hearing her response, reload the area and retrieve the White Messenger Ribbon from the body at the foot of the ladder.
Returning the red ribbon precedes this final visit. After the older sister leaves, a body and the white ribbon appear at the foot of the nearby ladder. The clinic branch does not lead to this scene.
The Girl Sent to the Clinic
Before nightfall, without having given her the brooch, choose the clinic for the young girl, reload the area and receive the reward from Iosefka’s impostor.
This destination is an alternative to Oedon Chapel and returning the brooch. The girl becomes a victim of the clinic’s experiments; sending her there leads to neither the red ribbon nor the older sister.
Beneath the Crow's Feathers
Before entering the Forbidden Woods, find Eileen at the Yharnam docks or near Oedon Chapel, exhaust her initial dialogue and learn the Shake Off Cape gesture.
Eileen hunts hunters made dangerous by the blood. You can first meet her at the docks or in Cathedral Ward; entering the Woods without speaking to her causes her quest to disappear.
Two Hunters Against Henryk
Before first entering the Forbidden Woods, help Eileen kill Henryk at the Tomb of Oedon, keep her alive, then speak to her after the victory.
Henryk appears at the tomb after Eileen’s warning. Eileen must survive, and you must speak to her after the fight, to continue her quest; simply waiting until before Rom is not enough.
The Legacy of the Hunter of Hunters
After defeating Rom, defeat the Bloody Crow of Cainhurst in the Grand Cathedral, then speak to the wounded Eileen again and receive her Hunter rune.
This outcome requires you to have helped Eileen against Henryk. Wounded on the steps, she entrusts the final fight to the hunter, then passes on the oath of the hunters of hunters.
The Crow Taken by Blood
After first meeting Eileen, enter the Forbidden Woods without completing the Henryk step with her, then confront her hostile form inside the Grand Cathedral after Rom.
This alternative ending branches from the first meeting, without passing through Henryk or Eileen’s legacy. If her quest was started but the opportunity to help against Henryk was missed, she awaits the hunter inside the cathedral after Rom. Defeating her yields her badge, but not the Hunter rune.
An Alliance Before the Altar
Before night falls, meet Alfred near the entrance to Old Yharnam, agree to cooperate with him and learn the Pray gesture.
Alfred prays at an altar and introduces himself as a disciple of Logarius. Agreeing to cooperate at your first meeting grants the gesture; his zeal against the Vilebloods emerges later.
Alfred’s Last Altar
After speaking to Alfred beside the mutilated Annalise at Cainhurst, find his body at his first altar in Cathedral Ward and collect the Radiance rune.
After completing his work at Cainhurst, Alfred returns to the small altar where you first met him. His body holds Radiance, the Executioners’ oath rune.
A Refuge for Arianna
Before Rom, after defeating Vicar Amelia, the Blood-starved Beast or the Witch of Hemwick, choose Oedon Chapel for Arianna and speak to her there.
Any one of these three victories allows Arianna to ask for shelter. Oedon Chapel and the clinic are alternative destinations. At the chapel, she offers her curtsy and then her blood; protecting her from the other residents allows her quest to continue.
The Child Beneath the Chapel
Keep Arianna alive until after Micolash, follow the blood trail beneath the chapel and speak to her beside her child.
Her condition changes after Rom and worsens after The One Reborn; Arianna then leaves the chapel after Micolash. A blood trail leads beneath the library. Keeping her alive makes this dialogue possible even without receiving her blood; killing her or provoking Adella’s murder closes this path.
The Trust of a Sister of the Church
Before Rom, after earning Adella’s trust in Hypogean Gaol by wearing recognized Healing Church chest attire, choose Oedon Chapel for her and speak to her at the refuge.
Adella recognizes the Black Church, White Church, Choir, Executioner, Tomb Prospector and Gascoigne sets, among others; the chest piece is enough. Choosing Oedon Chapel allows her to offer her bow and blood. The clinic is an alternative destination with no continuation at the chapel.
The Blood of Jealousy
Before defeating Rom, with both Arianna and Adella at Oedon Chapel, receive Arianna's blood three times in Adella's presence, then reload the area and discover the murder.
Only Arianna’s vials received while both women are present count. After the third, Adella kills her when the area is reloaded; this ending prevents the birth beneath the chapel. After Rom, Adella’s jealousy also leads to her ambush against the hunter.
A Place in the Chapel
After accepting the Oedon Chapel Dweller’s request, bring Arianna, Adella, the skeptical old man or the lonely old woman to the chapel, then speak to the Dweller again to learn Triumph.
The request to shelter survivors precedes this first arrival. Any one of the four actual refugees is enough, in any order. The young girl never reaches Oedon and the beggar brings death there: neither replaces a rescued survivor.
Four Voices in Safety
Before defeating Rom, gather Arianna, Adella, the skeptical man and the lonely old woman at Oedon Chapel, all alive at the same time, then speak to the chapel dweller.
The four survivors can share this refuge. Keep them alive by avoiding all three dangers: sending the beggar there, provoking Adella’s jealousy, or asking the old woman to leave a second time.
A Refuge for the Distrustful
After telling Arianna about either refuge and before Rom, make the clinic your final recommendation to the skeptical old man, then find him at Oedon Chapel.
The old man goes to the destination opposite the last recommendation given before leaving the area. Recommending the clinic therefore leads him to Oedon Chapel. Arianna may have been directed to either refuge to unlock this dialogue.
The Old Woman in the Chapel
Before Rom, choose Oedon Chapel for the lonely old woman, then speak to her at the refuge after reaching the second half of the Forbidden Woods.
Oedon Chapel allows her quest to continue; the clinic is an alternative destination. At the chapel, progressing beyond the windmill in the woods changes her dialogue: she becomes affectionate and offers Sedatives.
Sparing One Last Journey
After the old woman’s first return and receiving her seventh Sedative, decline to ask for more and leave her alive at Oedon Chapel, without a second trip.
Her first return with medicine is shared by both chapel endings. Declining another search spares her the fatal journey. This choice is the alternative to finding her body near the well.
The Vial Beside the Well
After her first return and the seventh Sedative, choose to ask the old woman to search a second time, reload the area and retrieve the last dose from her body near the well.
A second request to go outside proves fatal. This outcome branches from the same first return as the choice to spare her; it does not require completing the ending in which the old woman remains alive.
The Impostor's Warning
Before defeating Rom, enter the clinic through the passage from the Forbidden Woods and hear the impostor Iosefka's warning without crossing the boundary that makes her hostile.
The woman who invited survivors refuses to let you intrude. You can hear her warning on the stairs and then leave; approaching her starts a different quest branch.
Judgment at the Clinic
Choose the pre-Rom branch: fight and defeat Iosefka’s impostor in the clinic while she can still fight, before the Blood Moon appears.
Before Rom, the impostor defends herself with her weapons and hunter tools. Her death yields Oedon Writhe +2 and prevents obtaining her umbilical cord. This ending is an alternative to meeting her on the table after Rom.
The Experiment Under the Blood Moon
Choose to leave Iosefka’s impostor alive and non-hostile until after Rom, then return upstairs in the clinic and hear her dialogue on the table.
This branch requires not making her hostile before Rom. During the Blood Moon, the impostor remains on the table and speaks of her ascension. Listening is enough for this milestone; killing her and obtaining her cord form the next step.
The Tear of the Old Workshop
Bring the Small Hair Ornament from the Abandoned Old Workshop to the Doll and receive her Tear Stone.
The ornament stirs an emotion in the Doll that she struggles to understand. She gives the hunter a tear; this gift remains available even after the workshop in the Dream catches fire.
The Trail of the Holy Chalice
Exhaust Gehrman's initial dialogue, then return to hear his advice about chalices after reaching the Cathedral Ward.
Gehrman mentions a Holy Chalice kept in Old Yharnam. Returning as soon as you reach Cathedral Ward ensures that defeating the Blood-starved Beast or advancing to night does not replace this conversation with his later advice.
The First Transfusion Contract
Create your hunter and watch the opening blood transfusion performed by the Blood Minister.
At the clinic, the minister offers a blood transfusion after the contract is signed. This encounter opens the adventure; it does not begin a quest to find him again.
The impostor’s cord
After Rom, kill Iosefka’s impostor while she lies unable to fight on the clinic’s operating table, and retrieve her One Third of Umbilical Cord.
Spared and left non-hostile before Rom, the impostor believes herself chosen under the red moon. Killing her in this state yields the cord; defeating her before Rom yields a rune instead. These two deaths are alternative endings within a single cycle.
Cainhurst’s Forgotten Summons
Collect the Unopened Summons from the desk in the Queen’s Chamber at Cainhurst.
After Logarius, the Crown of Illusions reveals the Queen’s Chamber. The summons beside the throne gives Alfred a way to reach Cainhurst.
The Executioner’s Way to Cainhurst
Give the Unopened Summons to Alfred on the route to the Forbidden Woods and receive his Wheel Hunter Badge.
Alfred rewards the hunter with his badge and the Church Bow (Male) gesture. After the next area reload, he moves to the Queen’s Chamber at Cainhurst.
Alfred’s Bloody Triumph
After giving him the Unopened Summons, find Alfred beside the mutilated Annalise and exhaust his dialogue to receive the Roar gesture.
Alfred believes he has completed Logarius’s work by reducing the queen to formless flesh. This conversation precedes his return to the Cathedral Ward altar.
The Mission of Logarius’s Disciple
After nightfall, find Alfred on the route to the Forbidden Woods and hear his account of the Vilebloods and Logarius’s mission.
Alfred leaves his first altar for the stairs leading to the woods. There he explains his search for Cainhurst and his wish to release his master from his vigil.
The old woman’s first return
Receive the old woman’s first six Sedatives, ask her to search once, then reload the area until she returns and receive the seventh.
She gives one dose, then two, then three before her supply runs out. A fourth request sends her out to find more for the hunter. She returns once: this return opens the choice between keeping her safe and sending her outside again.
Distrust leads to the clinic
After telling Arianna about a refuge and before Rom, make Oedon Chapel your final recommendation to the old man, reload the area and find his celestial form at the clinic.
He follows the opposite of the last address recommended. Suggesting Oedon therefore delivers him to the impostor’s experiments. This destination is an alternative to his arrival at the chapel.
Arianna behind the clinic doors
Before Rom, after defeating Vicar Amelia, the Blood-starved Beast or the Witch of Hemwick, choose the clinic for Arianna, reload the area and find her celestial form there.
The promise of treatment takes the place of shelter at Oedon. Arianna becomes a victim of the experiments; this outcome closes her chapel gifts and the birth after Micolash. Her celestial form still carries her shoes.
The nun delivered to the experiments
Before Rom, earn Adella’s trust with recognized Healing Church chest attire, choose the clinic for her, reload the area and find her celestial form there.
The nun trusts the hunter’s clothing enough to leave her cell. The clinic transforms her instead of protecting her. This branch replaces her arrival at Oedon and closes both her blood gifts and her jealousy toward Arianna.
The old woman’s false refuge
Before Rom, choose the clinic for the old woman at her Central Yharnam window, reload the area and find her celestial form there.
This destination is an alternative to Oedon and both Sedative endings. The experiments turn the old woman into a Small Celestial Emissary; she never returns to the chapel refuge.
The blood Arianna offers
Before Rom, after Arianna arrives at Oedon Chapel, accept at least one vial of her blood by speaking to her there.
Arianna offers her blood until the red moon reveals her condition. Receiving it requires carrying no vial of Arianna’s, Adella’s or Adeline’s blood. If Adella is present, the third vial received before her triggers her jealousy; the gift is not required for the birth.
The grateful sister’s blood
Before Rom, after Adella arrives at Oedon Chapel, accept at least one vial of her blood by speaking to her there.
Adella thanks the hunter with her blood. She cannot offer it while a vial of Adella’s, Arianna’s or Adeline’s blood is already carried. The red moon ends her gifts, whether she has killed Arianna or not.
The cord of Oedon’s child
After the birth following victory over Micolash, kill the celestial child beside Arianna beneath the chapel and retrieve its One Third of Umbilical Cord.
This choice follows discovering the child and requires an action separate from the dialogue. Its death yields the cord and causes Arianna’s death. Unless Arianna survives until the birth, this relic is unavailable in the cycle.
Adella’s final jealousy
After causing Adella to murder Arianna, defeat Rom, then find Adella hostile outside Oedon Chapel and face her ambush.
Her jealousy does not end with Arianna’s death. Under the red moon, Adella waits outside to kill the hunter. This hostility continues the murderous branch; without the murder, she remains mad inside the chapel and no longer offers blood.
The girl on the road to Oedon
Before nightfall, without having given her the Red Jeweled Brooch, tell the young girl about Oedon Chapel, then reload the area to trigger her departure.
Choosing Oedon is an alternative to returning the brooch or choosing the clinic. The girl never reaches the refuge: the sewer boar ends her journey. Retrieving her red ribbon is a separate milestone.
The ribbon returned to the older sister
After Rom, give the Red Messenger Ribbon to the older sister at the family’s window and hear her response.
The older sister appears if the girl was sent toward Oedon or received Viola’s brooch. The boar’s ribbon enables this handover on either branch. The final discovery of the white ribbon comes after the next reload.
The Oedon Chapel Dweller’s request
On the first visit to Oedon Chapel, speak to the Dweller and hear his request to send sane survivors there.
The chapel’s incense sustains the Dweller’s hope. This first dialogue opens Oedon as a destination for the residents; their arrival and his Triumph reward are later steps. No refugee is required for this request.
Alfred Called Near the Great Bridge
After accepting his cooperation, summon Alfred near Gilbert’s house while the Cleric Beast is still alive.
His sign is behind the shortcut gate, down the stairs by Gilbert’s house. The Old Hunter Bell allows him to be called before his move toward the woods removes the sign.
Alfred Called at the Good Chalice
After accepting his cooperation, summon Alfred in the courtyard before the Blood-starved Beast while that boss is still alive.
His sign waits at the foot of the stairs leading into the Church of the Good Chalice courtyard. The Old Hunter Bell allows him to be called before he moves to the route toward the woods.
The outsider behind the window
Speak to Gilbert at the window near the Central Yharnam lamp and exhaust his first advice about Paleblood and the Healing Church.
An outsider himself, Gilbert points the hunter toward the Cathedral Ward. His later gift depends on the timing of a visit; his fate under the red moon can be discovered even if the gift was missed.
A request in the foggy alley
Before Rom, after defeating Vicar Amelia, the Blood-starved Beast or the Witch of Hemwick, speak to Arianna through her Cathedral Ward door and hear her request for shelter.
Arianna agrees to seek refuge after any one of these three victories. Her request precedes the choice between Oedon and the clinic. If she stays home until the red moon, her door no longer answers.
The garb that reassures the captive
Before Rom, speak to Adella in Hypogean Gaol with recognized Healing Church chest attire, earn her trust and receive her Madman’s Knowledge.
The captive recognizes help through Healing Church clothing: the chest piece of an accepted set is enough. She then asks for shelter. Oedon and the clinic are alternative answers; leaving her without an address can lead to her death.
The voice near the cages
Before Rom, speak to the old woman through her house window near the Central Yharnam dog cages and hear her request for refuge.
She distrusts outsiders but is no longer certain that her door will keep her safe. This meeting precedes two destinations: Oedon, where her quest continues, or the clinic, where she becomes a victim of the experiments.
The neighbor who refuses to believe
After telling Arianna about Oedon or the clinic and before Rom, speak to the old man at the opposite window until you can recommend a refuge.
He overheard the offer made to his neighbor and claims to see through the hunter’s lies. The choice can still be changed before leaving the area: he will go to the refuge opposite the last recommendation.
Finding the real Iosefka
Enter the clinic through the Forbidden Woods passage, return to the room where you awoke and discover the Small Celestial Emissary the real Iosefka has become.
The original healer is no longer behind her door. The creature in the starting room retains a vial of her blood, a final sign of her identity. This discovery is independent of the choice to fight the impostor before Rom or leave her alive until the red moon.
Cooperation Between Hunters
Meet Alfred in Cathedral Ward, near the entrance to Old Yharnam or on the route to the Forbidden Woods, and accept his cooperation.
Alfred agrees to share his knowledge at either location. Meeting him before nightfall also grants the Pray gesture; starting his quest after he moves still leaves the Cainhurst quest available.
Viola and Gascoigne’s Melody
Use the Tiny Music Box during the Gascoigne fight and see its effect interrupt his action.
The music box’s melody connects Gascoigne to his family. Using it three times while he is human forces his transformation; in beast form, he only reacts once. Seeing him stagger once is enough for this achievement.
An Adornment for the Messengers
Find a Messenger accessory available in the standard game and equip it at the Stump Messengers in the Hunter’s Dream.
The stump behind the workshop lets you change the Messengers’ appearance. Any accessory found during the hunt will do; those tied to older editions or pre-orders are not required.
Courtesy in the Dream
Stand before the animated Doll and perform a gesture that makes her bow, then one that makes her applaud, and observe both responses.
With at least one point of Insight, the Doll reacts to the hunter standing before her. Pray makes her bow; Approval or Hunter’s Rally makes her applaud.
