Every boss of the night, the Nightmare and the chalice dungeons, with three weapons chosen for each based on their story or combat: one solo victory per weapon.
Cleric Beast — The Cry of the Great Bridge
Defeat the Cleric Beast on Yharnam's Great Bridge in your own world.
The Cleric Beast guards the Great Bridge. Defeating it grants the Sword Hunter Badge and makes the bridge lamp appear.
Father Gascoigne — Blood and Beast
Defeat Father Gascoigne at the Tomb of Oedon in your own world.
Gascoigne turns from hunter to beast during the same fight. The Tiny Music Box can interrupt his attacks; defeating him opens the way to Oedon Chapel.
Blood-starved Beast — In the Church of the Good Chalice
Defeat the Blood-starved Beast in the Church of the Good Chalice in Old Yharnam, in your own world.
The Pthumeru Chalice obtained from this beast enables your first dungeon rituals. Its underground encounters have separate achievements.
Vicar Amelia — A Prayer Turned Beast
Defeat Vicar Amelia in the Grand Cathedral in your own world.
Amelia clutches her pendant even as she transforms. After the fight, the skull on the altar reveals a memory; examining it advances the night.
Hemwick — Two Witches in the Shadows
Defeat both Witches of Hemwick in the same encounter at the Witch's Abode, in your own world.
The fight only ends once both witches are defeated. Their summoned creatures are not additional bosses; the Rune Workshop Tool is in the room that becomes accessible after their defeat.
Paarl — The Thunder of Bones
Defeat Darkbeast Paarl at the Graveyard of the Darkbeast in your own world.
This graveyard connects Yahar’gul to Old Yharnam. After the victory, its gate leads into the lower town; the Loran Darkbeast remains a separate Chalice Dungeon encounter.
Shadows of Yharnam — The Grave of Three Guardians
Defeat all three Shadows of Yharnam in the same battle at the Forbidden Grave in the Forbidden Woods, in your own world.
The three opponents combine blades, fire and snakes. This achievement concerns the fight in the Forbidden Grave, not the Shadows encountered later as ordinary enemies.
Rom — The Veil of the Blood Moon
Defeat Rom, the Vacuous Spider, at Moonside Lake in your own world.
The lake is reached from Byrgenwerth’s balcony. Rom’s defeat precedes the revelation of the Blood Moon; the Chalice Dungeon version of Rom has a separate achievement.
The One Reborn — The Ritual of Yahar'gul
Defeat The One Reborn at Advent Plaza in Yahar'gul, in your own world.
The creature emerges in the plaza beneath the Blood Moon. Bell-ringing women occupy the galleries around the arena; only defeating the boss is required for this achievement.
Micolash — The Chase Ends
Defeat Micolash, Host of the Nightmare, in the Nightmare of Mensis in your own world.
The pursuit takes you through Mensis’s corridors and rooms. Defeating him raises the bridge leading to Mergo’s Loft: Middle, and he drops the Mensis Cage.
Mergo's Wet Nurse — The Last Cradle
Defeat Mergo's Wet Nurse in the Wet Nurse's Lunarium in your own world, then wait for confirmation that the nightmare has ended.
The crying continues briefly after the Wet Nurse falls. The victory message and umbilical cord arrive at the fight’s conclusion; there is no second Mergo boss to defeat.
Amygdala — At the Edge of the Frontier
Defeat Amygdala in the Nightmare Frontier in your own world.
The Amygdala in the Nightmare Frontier drops the Ailing Loran Chalice. The ones clinging to Yharnam’s buildings do not count as this encounter.
Logarius — The Martyr's Throne
Defeat Martyr Logarius on the rooftops of Forsaken Cainhurst Castle in your own world.
The Crown of Illusions awaits after the duel. Using it reveals the passage to Annalise; defeating Logarius does not grant the hunter a throne.
Celestial Emissary — The Garden's Secret
Defeat the Celestial Emissary in the Lumenflower Gardens of the Upper Cathedral Ward, in your own world.
The boss hides among the garden’s small creatures before growing larger. The other emissaries respawn; eliminating them all is not a victory requirement.
Ebrietas — The Altar of Despair
Defeat Ebrietas, Daughter of the Cosmos, at the Altar of Despair in your own world.
The passage to Ebrietas lies behind the window in the Celestial Emissary’s garden. Defeating her grants the Great Isz Chalice and clears access to the altar.
Gehrman — The Duel Beneath the Great Tree
Refuse Gehrman's offer, then defeat the First Hunter in the Hunter's Dream in your own world.
Gehrman wields the Burial Blade. Depending on the cords consumed, defeating him leads either to an ending or to the fight against the Moon Presence; this achievement only rewards the duel.
Moon Presence — Rejecting the Embrace
Consume at least three One Third of Umbilical Cord items, refuse Gehrman's offer, defeat him, then defeat the Moon Presence in the Hunter's Dream in your own world.
The cords must be consumed: keeping them in your inventory is not enough. Their effect lets you resist the Moon Presence’s embrace after the duel with Gehrman.
Ludwig — From the Accursed to the Holy Blade
Defeat Ludwig, the Accursed and then the Holy Blade, at the Underground Corpse Pile in your own world.
Ludwig regains his sword midway through the fight. His two names refer to two phases of a single boss; speaking to his head after the fight is not required here.
Laurence — The Ashes of the First Vicar
Bring Laurence's Skull to the Nightmare Grand Cathedral, then defeat Laurence, the First Vicar, in your own world.
The skull lies on the hidden altar beneath the elevator to the Research Hall, beyond the underground cells. After Ludwig, the Eye Pendant activates this elevator; returning the skull to the Nightmare cathedral awakens Laurence. This optional DLC encounter grants the Beast’s Embrace rune; only exhaustive playthroughs require it, while NG cycles end at the Orphan of Kos.
Living Failures — The Garden That Never Woke
Defeat the Living Failures in the Lumenwood Garden of the Research Hall, in your own world.
The creatures keep appearing around the garden, but share the fight’s overall health bar. Emptying the boss health bar ends this encounter and grants the Astral Clocktower Key.
Lady Maria — The Threshold of the Astral Clocktower
Defeat Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower in her clock room, in your own world.
Maria guards the passage beyond the Research Hall. The Celestial Dial received after the duel opens the clock towards the Fishing Hamlet; opening it is a separate action from winning the fight.
Orphan of Kos — The Duel on the Shore
Defeat the Orphan of Kos on the coast of the Fishing Hamlet in your own world.
Victory grants the Kos Parasite. A dark shadow then remains over Kos’s body: striking it ends the Nightmare, but that separate action is not required for this achievement.
The Giant of the First Tombs
Defeat the Undead Giant with twin curved blades as a layer boss in your own dungeon.
The first fixed encounter is on Layer 1 of Pthumeru. This variant wields two blades: the hook and cannon Giants are separate objectives. Defeating the same variant as a layer boss in an ordinary Root Chalice also counts.
The Watchers of the Labyrinth
Defeat the Merciless Watchers and their Chieftain in their boss encounter in your own dungeon.
They guard locations including Layer 2 of Pthumeru and Layer 1 of Lower Pthumeru. The entire group must be defeated; a lone Watcher encountered in the rooms is not enough. Defeating the same variant as a layer boss in an ordinary Root Chalice also counts.
The Hound of the Old Lords
Defeat the Watchdog of the Old Lords as a layer boss in your own dungeon.
It ends Pthumeru on Layer 3 and reappears in the Defiled Chalice on Layer 2. The first encounter is enough: this achievement does not require a curse. Defeating the same variant as a layer boss in an ordinary Root Chalice also counts.
The Possessed Soul of the Tombs
Defeat a Beast-possessed Soul as a layer boss in your own dungeon.
Fixed encounters: Central Pthumeru, Layer 1, and Ailing Loran, Layer 1. A Beast-possessed Soul encountered as an ordinary enemy in a room does not count for this fight. Defeating the same variant as a layer boss in an ordinary Root Chalice also counts.
The Guard of the Old Lords
Defeat a Keeper of the Old Lords as a layer boss in your own dungeon.
Fixed encounters: Central Pthumeru, Layer 2, and the Defiled Chalice, Layer 1. The Keeper in the cursed chalice is another encounter with the same boss, not a separate species. Defeating the same variant as a layer boss in an ordinary Root Chalice also counts.
The Descendant with Curved Blades
Defeat a Pthumerian Descendant as a layer boss in your own dungeon.
He ends Central Pthumeru on Layer 3 and opens Pthumeru Ihyll on Layer 1. His blades distinguish him from the Elder with the fiery staff, even when a Root Chalice displays the wrong name. Defeating the same variant as a layer boss in an ordinary Root Chalice also counts.
The Giant's Chains
Defeat the Undead Giant with a club and hook as a layer boss in your own dungeon.
This variant, equipped with chains, guards Layer 2 of Lower Pthumeru. The two-bladed Giant and the cannon Giant do not count in its place. Defeating the same variant as a layer boss in an ordinary Root Chalice also counts.
Rom — Beneath the Stones of Pthumeru
Defeat Rom, the Vacuous Spider, as a layer boss in your own dungeon.
Rom guards Layer 3 of Lower Pthumeru. Defeating her does not complete this four-layer dungeon; her defeat at Moonside Lake is a separate achievement. Defeating the same variant as a layer boss in an ordinary Root Chalice also counts.
Bloodletting Beast — Blood of the Depths
Defeat the headed Bloodletting Beast as a layer boss in your own dungeon.
The version with a head ends Lower Pthumeru on Layer 4. The headless form encountered deeper in Pthumeru Ihyll is a separate objective. Defeating the same variant as a layer boss in an ordinary Root Chalice also counts.
Amygdala — The Chalice's Curse
Defeat Amygdala on layer 3 of the fixed Defiled Chalice in your own dungeon.
This challenge requires the specific encounter in the Defiled Chalice, whose curse halves maximum HP. The Amygdala in the Nightmare Frontier and those in other chalices do not count in its place.
Bloodletting Beast — The Faceless Parasite
Defeat the headless, parasitic Bloodletting Beast as a layer boss in your own dungeon.
This form guards Layer 2 of Pthumeru Ihyll. The parasite appears during the same fight: it is not a third boss to count after the forms with and without a head. Defeating the same variant as a layer boss in an ordinary Root Chalice also counts.
Yharnam — An Audience in the Depths
Defeat Yharnam, Pthumerian Queen, on layer 3 of Pthumeru Ihyll in your own dungeon.
The queen yields the Yharnam Stone at the end of this battle. Her non-hostile appearances during the story do not count in its place.
The Boar of the Tombs
Defeat a Maneater Boar as a layer boss in your own dungeon.
It guards Layer 1 of Hintertomb. The boars in the sewers, Mensis and dungeon corridors do not count as this boss encounter. Defeating the same variant as a layer boss in an ordinary Root Chalice also counts.
The Giant's Cannon
Defeat the Undead Giant with an axe and cannon as a layer boss in your own dungeon.
The fixed encounter for this variant is on Layer 2 of Hintertomb. Its weapons distinguish it from the two-bladed Giant and the club-and-hook Giant. Defeating the same variant as a layer boss in an ordinary Root Chalice also counts.
Blood-starved Beast — Hunger Beneath the Tombs
Defeat a Blood-starved Beast as a layer boss in your own dungeon.
Fixed encounters: Hintertomb, Layer 3, and Ailing Loran, Layer 2. Victory in the Church of the Good Chalice in Old Yharnam does not replace a victory in the labyrinths. Defeating the same variant as a layer boss in an ordinary Root Chalice also counts.
The Labyrinth's Thief of Insight
Defeat a Brainsucker as a layer boss in your own dungeon.
It guards locations including Layer 1 of both Lower Hintertomb and Isz Gravestone. Brainsuckers encountered in the streets or ordinary rooms are not enough. Defeating the same variant as a layer boss in an ordinary Root Chalice also counts.
The Two Forgotten Hunters
Defeat the Forgotten Madman and Madman's Escort on layer 2 of Lower Hintertomb in your own dungeon.
The Escort joins the Madman during the fight; the two opponents form a single encounter. This victory yields the Lower Hintertomb Root Chalice and makes their attire available from the Insight Bath Messengers.
The Pthumerian Fire Staff
Defeat a Pthumerian Elder wielding a fire staff as a layer boss in your own dungeon.
The Elder ends Lower Hintertomb on Layer 3. The flaming staff distinguishes this boss from the blade-wielding Descendant, even when some Root Chalices display the wrong boss name. Defeating the same variant as a layer boss in an ordinary Root Chalice also counts.
The Abhorrent Beast of Loran
Defeat an Abhorrent Beast as a layer boss in your own dungeon.
Fixed encounters: Ailing Loran, Layer 3, and Lower Loran, Layer 2. The Suspicious Beggar's transformation in the main world is not a chalice encounter. Defeating the same variant as a layer boss in an ordinary Root Chalice also counts.
The Silverbeast of the Depths
Defeat a Loran Silverbeast as a layer boss in your own dungeon.
The fixed encounter is on Layer 1 of Lower Loran. Ordinary Silverbeasts in the nightmares and labyrinth corridors do not fulfill this objective. Defeating the same variant as a layer boss in an ordinary Root Chalice also counts.
The Darkbeast in the Depths of Loran
Defeat the Loran Darkbeast as a layer boss in your own dungeon.
It ends Lower Loran on Layer 3. Its visual resemblance to Paarl does not make the encounters interchangeable: the Yharnam boss has its own achievement. Defeating the same variant as a layer boss in an ordinary Root Chalice also counts.
The Emissary of the Tombs of Isz
Defeat the Celestial Emissary as a layer boss in your own dungeon.
The Emissary guards Layer 2 of Isz Gravestone. Its defeat in the Lumenflower Gardens of Upper Cathedral Ward is a separate objective. Defeating the same variant as a layer boss in an ordinary Root Chalice also counts.
Ebrietas — The Buried Cosmos
Defeat Ebrietas, Daughter of the Cosmos, as a layer boss in your own dungeon.
Ebrietas ends Isz Gravestone on Layer 3. Victory at the Altar of Despair unlocks this chalice, but does not by itself count as her underground encounter. Defeating the same variant as a layer boss in an ordinary Root Chalice also counts.
The Scream Breaks on the Teeth
Defeat the Cleric Beast solo, using only the Saw Cleaver to deal damage throughout the entire fight.
The Saw Cleaver is an emblematic hunting weapon; its folded serrations are effective against the Cleric Beast. This first giant brings the hunter back to the simplest act of the hunt. The folded cleaver and the extended saw count as the two forms of one weapon. Transformations, gems, fortification, healing and personal buffs are allowed. No other weapon, parry shot, visceral attack, consumable projectile, offensive tool or summon is permitted. Any cycle is valid, and each weapon requires a separate victory.
The Badge Returns to the Bridge
Defeat the Cleric Beast solo, using only the Kirkhammer to deal damage throughout the entire fight.

The silver sword alone and the hammer it forms once inserted count as one weapon. Transformations, gems, fortification, healing and personal buffs are allowed. No other weapon, parry shot, visceral attack, consumable projectile, offensive tool or summon is permitted. Any cycle is valid, and each weapon requires a separate victory.

Transformations, gems, fortification, healing and personal buffs are allowed. No other weapon, parry shot, visceral attack, consumable projectile, offensive tool or summon is permitted. Any cycle is valid, and each weapon requires a separate victory.

Transformations, gems, fortification, healing and personal buffs are allowed. No other weapon, parry shot, visceral attack, consumable projectile, offensive tool or summon is permitted. Any cycle is valid, and each weapon requires a separate victory.

No other weapon, parry shot, visceral attack, consumable projectile, offensive tool or summon is permitted. Any cycle is valid, and each weapon requires a separate victory.

The claw and its extended form count as one weapon. Transformations, gems, fortification, healing and personal buffs are allowed. No other weapon, parry shot, visceral attack, consumable projectile, offensive tool or summon is permitted. Any cycle is valid, and each weapon requires a separate victory.
One Last Fire in the Good Chalice
Defeat the Blood-starved Beast solo, using only the Boom Hammer to deal damage throughout the entire fight.

The hammer and its lit furnace count as one weapon. Transformations, gems, fortification, healing and personal buffs are allowed. No other weapon, parry shot, visceral attack, consumable projectile, offensive tool or summon is permitted. Any cycle is valid, and each weapon requires a separate victory.
The Weight of Faith

The silver sword alone and the hammer it forms once inserted count as one weapon. Transformations, gems, fortification, healing and personal buffs are allowed. No other weapon, parry shot, visceral attack, consumable projectile, offensive tool or summon is permitted. Any cycle is valid, and each weapon requires a separate victory.

Thunder Nailed to the Ground
Defeat Darkbeast Paarl solo, using only the Stake Driver to deal damage throughout the entire fight.
Breaking a leg drops Paarl and dispels his electricity. That opening offers a chance to prepare the Stake Driver's powerful charged strike, which is usually difficult to land on this mobile boss. The stake and its transformed form count as one weapon. Transformations, gems, fortification, healing and personal buffs are allowed. No other weapon, parry shot, visceral attack, consumable projectile, offensive tool or summon is permitted. Any cycle is valid, and each weapon requires a separate victory.

Any cycle is valid, and each weapon requires a separate victory.

No other weapon, parry shot, visceral attack, consumable projectile, offensive tool or summon is permitted. Any cycle is valid, and each weapon requires a separate victory.
The Wheel Crushes Rebirth
Defeat The One Reborn solo, using only Logarius' Wheel to deal damage throughout the entire fight.

Any cycle is valid, and each weapon requires a separate victory.
An Arm Against the Great Ones
Defeat Amygdala solo, using only the Amygdalan Arm to deal damage throughout the entire fight.
This arm comes from a small Amygdala and still quivers when extended. Taking it against the Nightmare Frontier's Amygdala turns a limb of its kind against it, without implying a special damage bonus. The arm and its extended form count as one weapon. Transformations, gems, fortification, healing and personal buffs are allowed. No other weapon, parry shot, visceral attack, consumable projectile, offensive tool or summon is permitted. Any cycle is valid, and each weapon requires a separate victory.
