With patch v1.07 you are able to summon NPCs to come to your aid, just like cooperative play, including inside Chalice Dungeons. To do so, first you will need to acquire the “ Old Hunter Bell ” from the messengers in the Hunter’s Dream. In some areas you may be able to summon up to two NPC Hunters.
Note : When you summon Valtr , he will appear wearing his helmet and will be identified as "Valtr, Master of the League" until you have completed his quest and obtained the Master's One-Eyed Iron Helm . From this point onward he will be summoned as "Valtr, Beast Eater" and will appear without his helmet. He is stronger as "Beast Eater" so it's worth completing his quest before summoning him for these fights.

Wound each flank
In his Accursed form, his flanks can be wounded separately and remain vulnerable. Alternating sides lets you chain interruptions.
Change targets in phase 2
With the Holy Blade, the flanks no longer break. Accumulated damage can open up a visceral attack in front of the chest.
- Both forms share one HP bar. In the second phase, Ludwig loses the Beast attribute, but the wiki confirms that he remains vulnerable to the serrated bonus.
- Solo HP and echoes without runes. The displayed defenses are for NG; their NG+ scaling is not quantified here.
- A defense is a calculation value, not a damage reduction percentage. A Poison resistance of 999 does not imply immunity.
