Blood Gems — Bloodborne

Blood Gems — Blood gems, Bloodborne. Unlock slots, read effects and improve your weapon without consuming your gems.

Blood Gems

Installing gems

  • Collect the Blood Gem Workshop Tool just before Oedon Chapel, then use the workbench in the Hunter's Dream.
  • Upgrade a compatible weapon to open its slots. Gems can be removed and reused on another weapon.

Unlocking slots

Right hand: first slot+1
Right hand: second slot+3
Right hand: third slot+6
Left hand: single slot+1

Read the four key details

  • Shape: it must fit the slot. A droplet fits every shape.
  • Primary effect: check the damage type or stat the weapon actually uses.
  • Secondary effect: can offset a lower primary percentage, depending on the move and target.
  • Curse: assess its cost across the whole setup. The rating, from 1 to 20, is not enough to choose.

Gem effects and acquisition

A slot accepts a gem of its shape, or a droplet. Installing, removing and moving a gem does not consume it.

Obtain the Blood Gem Workshop Tool before Oedon Chapel, then use the workbench in the Hunter's Dream.

Left-hand offensive effects do not transfer to the right-hand weapon. Passive regeneration is an exception.
