Blood Gems — Curses

The six curses

PenaltyConsequence to check
Increased stamina costNumber of hits and stamina needed to dodge
Accelerated weapon wearRepair frequency; take care with low-durability weapons
Reduced damage against KinPenalises targets with this attribute
Reduced damage against beastsPenalises targets with this attribute
Continuous HP lossOngoing healing and practical incompatibility with a full-HP bonus
Reduced attackDirectly reduces the offensive benefit; compare the final total

Choose for the target

A cursed gem has only one curse. Its higher bonus comes with that trade-off: reduced damage against beasts may suit a target without that attribute, but its value changes completely in a beast fight.

Accelerated wear does not mean an immediate reduction in power. It shortens the number of hits between repairs; watch the weapon's actual condition during long exploration.

Gem effects and acquisition

A cursed gem trades greater power for one penalty. Assess that penalty against the target and the length of your outing.

The penalty is part of the equipped gem; reduced damage against beasts or Kin depends on the target's attribute.

Compare every penalty in the setup. Continuous HP loss works against full-HP bonuses.
